Luck comes in many forms but what these people experienced is a once in a lifetime chance sort-of-thing ... It is amazing how the hurd returns to save the baby buffalo, it just makes you think that animals are more than instinct.

The fantasy that animals are just "instinct" has long been discredited, from both ways.
It's proven that some animals have consciousness, both ways, because some say consciousness is just a meta effect of instincts working together. In any case, it's save to say that the reduction of animals as a sort of bio-machine is a form of racism called speciesism.
