If healthy in the 80s, even into his 30s, Orr would have scored 100 pts. again. And if you put him at centre in his prime, he'd easily get the scoring stats of a Gretzky or Lemieux. He could also play defense well and threw checks and got into fights. Therefore, Orr is the best and most complete player to ever play the game IMHO.

I'd like to thank the NHL for publishing all of this video! I think it's really awesome the way the NHL handles marketing as apposed to the MLB who doesn't even let fans upload highlight videos.

Crymson1: Reasonable comment, but how different was the scoring?
Answer: Average goals per game NHL, 1969-70: 5.81; 2006-07: 5.89: 2007-08: 5.57.
So, you see in Orr's time (early 70's), the average scoring was about at the level it is now, but no current defenseman comes close. During Gretzky's time (early 80's) (not that I am saying Orr > Gretzky, I am just saying), the average scoring per game peaked at 8.03 goals per game.

Hmmm you make a good point. It's not that scoring is down but now the talent is so spread out, ever one more equally skilled, and every one is playing at that the same level. When before there we few individuals that shoot above the rest and now every one is playing closer to the same level?
