If you're refering to "Stray Dog" however (the one most people think of when you combine noir and kurosawa)...Yes, it is a good film. Also, "The Bad Sleep Well" is good as far as noir.
It may or may not be Kurosawa's best film, but it is definately a film worth recognizing.
If I come up with the money to buy it I'll make a mash-up of it for you guys. If you haven't seen it, I would definately recommend getting on the waiting list at your local video store (where I live there were like 10 people in line in front of me for it)
For me, a tribute is something people come back to and realize, in awe, how great a person was or is. In this case, I feel I have done a good job: people watch this video and comment on Mifune and Kurosawa's skill. There is a realization of greatness in watching these.
Yojimbo
Red Beard
7 Samurai
Roshomon (is a masterpiece that should be seen by everyone.)
Dreams
Kagemusha
Dersu Uzala...
Tatsuya Nakadai (gun-toting villian in Yojimbo, King in Ran) is still alive and you can see many of his interviews on walking out of the burning Castle in Ran etc. by seeing Kurosawa's films out of the Criterion Collection.
ps/ WHAT IS THE TITLE OF THE MUSIC
Thanks! Kurosawa is the man! BAD ASS CINEMA!
