If the Arabs were so advanced and knowledgeable they would never have lost their empire and influence. Learning has been gained through the ruling periods of different empires including the Caliphates - but Islam can't claim a monopoly on this. Arab wealth would be easy to steal by genocide in oil producing countries. However, oil is not stolen, it is purchased at great expense on the World market making those countries very very rich.
