never thought this way; creativeness is just an asexual gift, a gift that's paid actually. Pretty often comes out as a reaction to long-time repression: black men who are not persecuted just play their drums like everyone else in the world, when Jim Crow came then came the Blues too. Innovative Art is vomited out from hard times; I would say that mediocrity and satisfaction go hand in hand, but that has nothing to do with being gay or not. In a gay society, You'd say that "straightness" & creativity often coincide, and You'd be on the wrong path again.

Yep, that's just because gay culture has the need to express & that's because of repression in the straight society. I don't think personally that avant-gardes tend to be gay more than the contrary, I rather think that gays tend to be showy.

Art is by definition 'showy'. Male artists possessing both masculine and feminine sensibilities + the economic resources of male 'citizenship'. Sensitive/creative/ nurturing, not only repressed. A quantitative survey of the arts shows that the movers and shakers of high culture tend to have same-sex tendencies, or move in that world. Law-makers and tyrants, on the other hand, tend to be normatively hetero, concerned with political domination rather than artistic subversion
